Senior business analyst needed to work on critical actuarial and product management project related to implementing GGY Axis within Genworth, and providing on-going busine! ss analyst capabilities for ALL production actuarial systems post Axis project completion.
Responsibilities:
- Proactively explore opportunities that create business value and improve operational efficiency through technology and process improvement.
- Leverage breadth and depth of knowledge to serve as process and automation strategist. Assist Actuarial leadership in development of technical and process improvement strategies, determining which business requirements can and should be automated, and defining how to integrate with other business processes.
- Serve as direct liaison to functional process owners and subject matter experts to gather and develop detailed business requirements for system implementations and service requests.
- Make decisions for/with AXIS Actuarial Team on delegated responsibilities. (Project and decision authority span expense, productivity, and business risk elements that have long-lasting impact ! to the business.)
- Maintain functional peer relationsh! ips and detailed working knowledge of Actuarial systems, organization, and processes
- Coordinate business needs with IT and other departments for the development, analysis and testing of new products, systems modifications and enhancements.
- Evaluate the accuracy of system processes following implementation of: enhancements, changes, and new product introductions.
- Consult and/or provide training related to new process and product implementations, on an as needed basis including the development of training materials
- Provide matrix and/or direct technical leadership and mentoring for less experienced analysts and test associates
- Communicate project status and issues with department leadership and project team members. Take a leading role in prioritization meetings including assistance in developing project priorities and resource alignment to those priorities.
- Responsible for working with business leaders/associates to defin! e and translate business requirements for complex issues into detailed functional specifications and communicate information to IT project leaders/associates, as well as managing requests for changes to the specifications.
- Develops/coordinates detailed requirements for system upgrades, modifications, and new product development. Contribute to test scenarios and/or test plans for quality assurance testing, including review of test results for quality assurance.
- Provides support by answering questions on system transaction processing and system problem resolution.
- Communicates/coordinates system problem resolution with IT project leaders/associates. Provides application support, as needed.
- College Degree (BS/BA) and/or 4 years equivalent experience
- Proven strong analytical ability
- Strong intellectual curiosity and a desire to develop an in-depth understanding of complex issues
- Demonstrated organizational and prioritization skills with the ! ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines while working independently
- PC / Technical skills - Microsoft Office experience including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills with the ability to tailor communications to differing audiences including Senior Management and Technical Developers
- Proven Interviewing and Listening Skills
- Demonstrated Conflict Resolution and Negotiation Skills
- Demonstrated Facilitation Skills
- Business Analysis training and proven experience developing Business Requirements and Requirement artifacts including: Use Cases, Activity Diagrams, Test Scenarios
- GGY AXIS Experience
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Actuarial/Finance Systems
- Basic understanding of System Design, ETL Processing and Relational Data Modeling
- Experience Implementing Commercial Off The S! helf (COTS) applications in a highly complex financial environment
