The Virginia Lottery is looking for an Area Manager to serve in the management of route sales representatives in the Richmond geographic area, which includes: Richmond City, Fredericksburg, Kilmarnock, Downtown Richmond,! West Point, Mid-town Richmond, West End, Hanover, Ladysmith, Powhatan, Fluvanna, Goochland and Tappahannock.
Duties include hiring, training, coaching, and evaluating the job performance of 8-12 sales representatives (SRs) and making recommendations to improve operations within a defined geographic area; assisting in establishment of SR sales goals; and working with SRs and their retailers to ensure sales goals are met. The selected candidate must be able to develop sales area programs and objectives to meet sales goals; establishing personal objectives and professional development plans of sales representatives. Performance is evaluated on sales goal achievement and other important factors.
Minimum Qualifications
Previous experience in sales management with proven strengths in leadership, coaching, training, and mentoring skills. Ability to analyze sales data from the assigned geographical area and propose change; work with retailers to increase! sales and try new promotional programs; plan, organize and di! rect the work of others; develop sales presentations and present to all levels of management. Considerable knowledge of and experience with modern sales management methods; principles and practices of product marketing and retail sales; and PC tablet or other hand-held equivalent. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; effective communication skills (oral and written) a must. The preferred candidate must reside in Virginia, and be willing to live within a 50 mile radius of the stated business center.
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in Business Administration or related field, and Lottery experience preferred.
Special Requirements
The selected candidate must possess a valid driver's license, have a good driving record, and be able to pass a thorough background investigation.
