The Pharmacy Informatics Specialist shall ca! rry out duties assigned by the Director of Pharmacy and departmental policy and procedures. The Pharmacy Informatics Specialist shall be responsible for maintaining, testing and updating Meditech dictionaries and functionality related to the pharmacy module, ePOM, eMAR and other Meditech modules that interact with medication ordering, dispensing and/or administration. The Pharmacy Informatics Specialist will act as a liaison between the pharmacy department and the clinical informatics group and will participate in implementation/roll-out of new Meditech functionality as required. The Pharmacy Informatics Specialist will be the primary pharmacy resource for the implementation and training of physicians and other healthcare providers in utilization of ePOM and eMAR. The Pharmacy Informatics Specialist will interact closely with both corporate and division personnel in the evaluation and design of new software functionality.
SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Coordinates with Corporate, Division, and other HCA! facilities in the design and update of Meditech Dictionaries relating to pharmacy, ePOM and eMAR setup.
2. Aggregates, prepares and presents routine Pharmacy data to team members, administration and regulatory agencies as necessary.
3. Performs ethically and professionally adhering to the pharmaceutical guidelines established by the state of Virginia and CJW Medical Center. Functions as a registered pharmacist, as needed/negotiated by the Pharmacy Director(s).
4. Designs and develops system documentation tools. Assists in the performance of system testing with updates/upgrades in coordination with Corporate and Division testing.
5. Identifies issues, investigates system issues to complete resolution and reports issues to the appropriate source with adequate follow up.
6. Effectively educates physicians and other healthcare providers on ePOM use and evaluates competency accurately prior to solo use.
7. Acts as liaison wi! th the Pharmacy to ensure consistent education and communication between staff and Meditech system education.
8. Performs duties of a staff pharmacist, as needed, including evaluation and entry of medication orders, compounding of medications and sterile products, and dispensing of medicinal agents using appropriate techniques and following the health systems policies.
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE
:
Required - Minimum 3 years clinical experience. Experience with state and federal regulatory requirements preferred. Advanced computer skills, proficient in the use of graphic programs, word processing, spreadsheet manipulation and database programs.
Required - Effective communication skills are required. Effective written and verbal skills are required.
- Experience with Informatics is highley prefered.
Required - Graduate of an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy at a college or uni! versity.
Required - Licensure by the Virginia State Board of P! harmacy by examination or reciprocity.
LICENSURE:
Required - Valid Virginia State Board of Pharmacy license.
