This position is responsible for assisting the SVP of Human Resources with the overall design, implementation, communication, and administration of the organization's compensat! ion and benefits programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists SVP HR in designing, planning, and implementing credit union compensation and benefit programs and related policies, and procedures. Responsible for assisting Virginia Credit Union in achieving its desired target market position and compensation philosophy. Ensures the compensation program enhances the organization's ability to recruit and retain employees. Recommends new and/or improved employee benefit plans and cost-saving measures.
Manages the Compensation and Benefits Administrator on retirement plan administration and special projects. Manages the HR Generalist on benefits and payroll administration, including the processing of insurance claims (life & disability, workers compensation), benefits orientation and FMLA administration. Establishes and monitors goals and expectations designed to meet the strategic objectives of the Compensation and Benefits function.
Coordinates the! administration of employee benefit programs such as medical a! nd dental insurance, group life and disability insurance, retirement plans, and other benefits. Partners with brokers and vendors to analyze utilization and claims data and identify trends/issues; recommends plan design changes.
Ensures compliance with all legal requirements of various employee benefit programs and prepares and files required legal reports. Responsibilities require considerable research and analytical skills to interpret changing benefit and compensation laws and regulations. Ensures plan documents are kept up to date and ERISA-compliant and that the plans are filed and communicated appropriately.
Administers open enrollment process including HRIS design and testing, open enrollment communications and education, and audit of open enrollment data.
Assists the SVP HR in the design and administration of compensation programs. Conducts analyses of compensation and benefit programs in order to evaluate internal equity and external competitiveness, an! d legal compliance of the organizationâs compensation and benefit practices. Makes recommendations regarding salary grades or market rates for specific jobs; participates in salary surveys to obtain competitive market information, and ensures compensation programs are consistently administered across the organization.
Responsible for the development of salary and benefit communication plans to include changes or enhancement to programs or ongoing education regarding the features of our salary and benefit programs.
Serves as the Systems Administrator for the HRIS which includes responsibility for the creation, audit, maintenance, and security of system codes, tables, calculations, and reports. Works closely with HR Team, HRIS vendors, Payroll and IT staff to ensure that systems are effectively meeting the needs of the HR team.
Assists SVP HR in incentive and annual performance increase program administration, policy and plan development, calculating payouts, ma! intaining proper documentation and obtaining authorizations.
Comple! te all required BSA and OFAC training. Report all suspicious activity to Fraud Risk Management. Hold staff accountable for compliance with BSA and OFAC policies and procedures by invoking appropriate disciplinary action when violations are discovered; and ensure that all staff complete required training programs.
Other duties may be required and assigned by the supervisor.
Prerequisites:
Knowledge and Experience: Knowledge of regulations, laws, and filings related to employee benefit and compensation plans such as ERISA, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, COBRA, and USERRA. Prior experience that demonstrates proficiency in retirement plan administration, health and welfare plan administration, reporting requirements, cafeteria plan administration, managing multiple vendor relationships, and HRIS administration. Prior work experience in salary administration, recruitment or employee relations preferred. Prior leadership/management experience preferred.
Skills: Attention to detail; strong organization skills; excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Access and Excel with demonstrated ability to utilize the analytical functions within these programs. The ideal candidate will currently be using these tools regularly in their current activities.
Abilities: Work experience that demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally with all levels of employees; perform high-level data analysis; create advanced database reports; analyze and manage data; and read, analyze and interpret policies, contracts, and financial reports. High level of interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all levels of staff and vendors; superior oral and written communication skills to effectively present information and respond to questions and the ability to apply discretion and maintain confidential information.
Minimum Education: College degree with coursework in Human Re! sources preferred; or equivalent combination of significant demonstrate! d experience in the compensation and benefits field and familiarity with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. CEBS, CCP, or CBP certification a plus.
Physical Requirements: This job requires the ability to sit for long periods of time. This job requires infrequent lifting or carrying of objects up to 10 pounds.
