The class may assist with or be responsible for technical or admin! istrative aspects of accounting and investment functions, administration of retirement payroll, health insurance, and implementing/calculating pension programs; including conducting retirement counseling and education. The class works within a general outline of work to be performed and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision.Supervision: ⢠Exercised: Classification typically does not supervise.⢠Received: Classification typically reports to the Fiscal Administrator or Benefits Administrator⢠Note: Other reporting relationships may applyExample of Duties: The Richmond Retirement System is seeking a qualified customer service focused individual for the position of Retirement Benefits Coordinator I.Duties Include but are not limited to: Provide retirement benefit counseling as part of a Benefits Unit team, supporting an active and deferred employee population of over 4,000 members in the Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution Plans Assist members! through all phases of the retirement process; responsible for! analyzing personnel information and calculating pension estimates; providing members final benefit amounts prior to the initiation of monthly benefit payments Provide high quality customer service and guidance to members regarding their retirement benefits Track internal indicators of performance and continually seek ways to improve service that leads to a high performing unit Compile varied monthly customer service statistics and produce reports on progress Under direct supervision, performs professional level tasks counseling members on their retirement options and benefits Investigate, review and analyze financial and personnel accounts, calculate payments and retirement benefits for members in the Richmond Retirement Systemâs Defined Benefit and Contribution Plans. Prepare & revise Standard Operating Procedures.Qualifications, Special Certifications and Licenses: Requires Bachelor's degree or training equivalent to four years of college education in business, liberal! arts, or any related field.Requires one year of experience in the assigned area.An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification.No Special Certification or License required.
However, attainment of at least the American Payroll Associationâs Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is preferred.Preferred candidate will have at least 2 years of experience, and have a high level of analytical ability.
