This position serves as an integral member of the Provider Contracting Team. This resource will report directly to the Contracting Market! Lead and will assist in developing the strategic direction and management of the day-to-day contracting activities for a given territory.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manages staff responsible for medical cost management for a given territory.
• Manages contracting with hospitals, physician, and ancillary providers.
• Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Identify opportunities, and develop / execute contracting strategy within assigned territory.
• Prepare, analyze, review, and project financial impact of provider contracts and alternate contract terms.
• Negotiate contracts, and effectively manage the negotiation process.
• Track financial performance of contracts and ensure compliance with contracting guidelines.
• Ensures compliance with the company's contracting policies / procedures, and the smooth operation / administration of provider agreements.
• May provide g! uidance or expertise to less experience specialists.
• ! Responds to provider inquiries / concerns / complaints, and assist in resolving elevated and complex provider service issue.
• Manage other projects and duties as assigned.
• Build and maintain strong relationship with the provider community and matrix partners.
• Adheres to CIGNA's ethical guidelines including safeguarding all proprietary and confidential information.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree, MBA or MHA preferred.
• At least five years contracting and negotiating experience involving complex delivery systems and organizations.
• Strong analytical skills
• Intimate knowledge of hospital and managed care finance.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience with formal presentations.
• Superior problem solving, decision-making and negotiating skills.
• Ability to use PC software and multiple CIGNA systems
• Team player with proven ability t! o develop strong working relationships within a matrix organization.
• Technical/Functional expertise: provider contracting, negotiation, strategic planning
• Ability to manage in a production and matrix environment
• Ability to work independently and be self directed.
• Exceptional Customer Service skills
• Detail oriented .
