They are tasked with the challenging and exciting opportunity to help design and implement the next generation of the CarMax Enterprise Data Warehouse. The successful candidate should possess deep technical expertise in database design, Business Intelligence development, analytics, ETL, and will have previously contributed to the implementation of Enterprise Data Warehouse systems.
The Sr. Programmer Analyst will work with various business units and the IT department to help translate analytic requirements into a high performing Data Warehouse solution. The candidate will help create the conceptual and logical data models and the translation of the logical model into a physical model. The Data Warehouse environment consists of several disparate source systems to be consolidated into a robust high performing, quality rich, and scalable data foundation. In addition to a strong Ente! rprise Data Warehouse background, the ideal candidate must pos! sess experience in the successful implementation of an enterprise BI solution that utilizes commercial software products.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Partner with the business users and with IT to implement a strategic method of accessing data, and help influence and drive adoption of this methodology within all areas of the user community
- Assist in the implementing an enterprise Business Intelligence solution
- Work with the Security team to implement the security requirements for the enterprise
- Assist in the definition and implementation of data organization hierarchies and structures (e.g., ODS, EDW, Data Marts)
- Support the ETL process including data capture, data quality, and loading
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Must carry strong business and communication skills to communicate and influence at all levels of the organization
- Extensive knowledge of current industry trends related to data warehousing, data management and enterprise reporting
- This individual must be a strong team player, with the ability to work well with others in order to meet project milestones, manage customer expectations and to mentor others on the team
- Must be self motivated and goal driven with a strong attention to detail
- Expert SQL and analytical skills are required
- Experience designing, constructing, and presenting dashboards and actionable reporting in both one on one and group settings
- Experience and ability to develop the future state of the EDW using tools and technologies that facilitate an und! erstanding of the business processes and their relationship to the data! processed
- Experience and ability to create, review and present Source Systems Analysis and “source to target†mappings across Staging, Integration and Presentation layers
- Experience and ability to identify and document data integration issues; including challenges such as duplicate data, non-conformed data, and unclean data
- Bachelor Degree in Information Technology preferred
- 5+ years professional experience working or consulting in an Enterprise Data Warehouse environment required (Teradata is preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in dimensional data modeling required
- Implementation experience with one or more BI/reporting tools such as, OBIEE 11g, Cognos, Microstrategy, or Oracle’s Hyperion is required
- Experience in implementing staging, operational data stores (ODS) and dimensional data marts is desired
- Implementation experience with ETL concepts and ! tools (Informatica desired)
