For complete informations about this position opportunity please read the description below. The Enterprise Solutions and Governance Office is seeking a Server Administrator
to provide technical server support for internal VITA business and technical applications and web sit! es in test and production environments and to provide application server administration support for the Commonwealth Portal. The incumbent will evaluate, architect, and implement VITA internal application and database server environment. Monitor simple to complex multi-tiered business and SOA applications, web sites and Commonwealth portal in the growing VITA system inventory. Troubleshoot problems and lead resolution efforts. Serve as an intermediary to State Infrastructure Vendor for related problems and questions. Assist development group with all deployment environments including Development, System Test and the Training environments as needed. Ensure architectural standards are adhered to and suggest process and policy improvements. Promote applications through environments, including System Test, User Acceptance Testing, and Production. Modify and distribute applications from the UAT and Production environments as needed; and ensure deployments are secure and have ful! l rollback capabilities. Perform system maintenance and tuning! including operating system and application patches. Maintain an inventory of VITA servers and related software and monitoring for required vulnerabilities and patching. Assist database administrators as required with database backup/restore, file conversions, performance monitoring, and assistance. Architect and implement Disaster recovery plans for critical applications.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience: Considerable experience working in a Technical Support role with multiple industry and organizational exposure. Experience with Content Management Systems and related functionality including products like Ektron and SiteCore. Experience with the following tools/languages/technologies: HTML/DHTML, Visual Basic, VBScript, XML, .NET, Java, PL/SQL, ASP.Net, Microsoft Team Foundation Server, and related Web technologies. Considerable experience in System Administration functions including monitoring, maintenance, auditing, tuning, and configuration do! cumentation. A thorough understanding of enterprise technologies including web technologies, programming languages, OLTP/OLAP technologies, SOA technologies, database platforms (Oracle, SQL Server and other SQL database platforms), multi-tiered systems, multi-user and multi-tasking operating systems, and knowledge management systems is required. Progressive experience in a Systems Integrator role with multiple industry and organizational exposure is highly desired.
Knowledge of: SQL Server database and application tools (Integration Services, Analysis Services and Reporting Services, SQL Server Agent); Web Server software Internet Information Services (IIS) and ColdFusion.. Knowledge of and experience in security infrastructures as it relates to integration of systems, data encryption techniques, authentication and authorization; and web services and related standards (WS-*) is required.
Skills and Abilities: Excellent verbal and writing skil! ls and the ability to develop and present complex material effectively ! to a variety of audiences are required.
Preferred Qualifications
Education: Graduate from an accredited college w/degree in Information Technology or related field highly desired. Advanced degree in Information Technology or related field highly desired. Combination of education and experience may substitute for college degree.
